Civil War Art Show & Sale

A private collection of Civil War prints by artists such as Mort Kunstler, John Paul Strain, Don Stivers, and Dale Gallon will be on display. Many of these items are limited edition, early works, and available for sale. Show and sale times along with special activities are listed below. Admission to the Civil War Art Show & Sale is FREE.

Monday April 8th Private Reception
by invitation only.
A private reception will be held between 4pm and 7pm. Invited guests will have opportunity to preview and purchase available prints and enjoy special music from Glory Bound Bluegrass Gospel Band.
Tuesday April 9th 11am - 9pm
Venue 1848 will be OPEN from 11 - 9 - In addition to the Civil War Art Show & Sale the Appomattox Social Dance Society will hold their weekly dance tonight at Venue 1848. Lessons starts at 7pm and will include waltz and contra dance. Open dance is until 9pm. Tickets are $5.00 per person at the door for DANCERS!

10:00 - 11:00 Civil War Art Show & Sale - Learn about the art, artists and depicted history of the prints on display.
11:00 - 11:30 Common Soldier - The uniform and life of the common soldier will be presented by Samantha Barrett with the American Civil War Museum.
11:30 - 12:00 Layers of The Lady - How many layers of clothing was typically worn by a “proper” lady during the American Civil War era? Find out as Morrissa Mae Scott demonstrates!
12:00 - 1:00 Hardtack and Haversacks - You won’t find much for lunch in this soldier’s bag but you will see a sampling of his typical daily food rations. You are welcome to pack your own haversack and eat outside in the courtyard.
1:00 - 2:30 The Virginia Reel - Learn the Virginia Reel and other social dances from the Civil War era. We will have great teachers, plenty of helpers, and lots of fun!
