The Stage @venue1848
You know about The Weddings @venue1848; you know you can book your family events here, too. Maybe you’ve heard about our recent addition of The Loft @venue1848 for overnight accommodations. Now, there is something else that we are excited to explore and hope to develop. We’ve been posting some little bits out on our Instagram and Facebook accounts over the past few weeks, so you if you follow us, you’ve already had plenty of clues and sneak peeks.
This year we are planning to put a spotlight on The Stage @venue1848. To open our stage, we have the James River Theatre Company joining us for the month of February. JRTC is a professional repertory theatre company out of Lynchburg, Virginia. Their goal has been to encourage a love for the classics and train up a new generation of artists. They will present the stage adaptation by Kate Hamill of Jane Austen’s classic novel Sense and Sensibility. It is a tale is sisterly love surrounded by love, romance and heartbreak.
(SPOILER ALERT) In case you haven’t read the book or seen the movie, it ends happily with a double wedding. (FULL DISCLOSURE) If I had read the book, I wasn’t remembering the story line so Don and I watched the 1995 movie version with Emma Thompson. As advocates for the family, the theme of making a “fit” marriage is quite an appropriate and often discussed topic around here. We are thrilled to host this presentation and hope you will attend.
The performance dates are on Friday and Saturday nights, February 10th, 11th, 17th, 18th, 24th, and 25th. Tickets are $20 each and can be purchased online through the James River Theater website. Of bittersweet note, this will be the final bow for James River Theatre Company as the owners, Maggie Quick and Christina Crouch, will both be moving on to other roles. Help us make their last production a great success and send them off well. We want to pack the house but seating is limited, so don’t wait to get your tickets!
We would love for you to plan an overnight stay in The Loft @venue1848. Book The Loft today for a performance date and receive two complementary tickets to the JRTC production. Support the theatre and the work of Venue 1848. Follow us. Share our post. Tag a friend.
